Vila was arrested on October 18, 2010, after the death of 85-year-old Paquita Gironès. Vila had forced her to drink bleach. [1] [2] He confessed to killing 3 elderly patients by giving them bleach [2]
Vila was sentenced to 127 years in prison on June 20, 2013. Psychologists Miguel Soria and Lluis Borrás stated that Vila is transgender and that perhaps his killings are a result of extreme gender dysphoria. Vila stated that he was gay and claimed to be a cross-dresser from an early age. [3] He also said he suffers from bipolar disorder.
