Skaansar was awarded the 2006 Postens Talentpris, the 2008 Lillehammer Kommunes Kulturstipend and 2009 Oppland Fylkeskommunes kunstnerstipend.[2] He also was the winner of the 2012 Open class at Landskappleiken together with Camilla Granlien. He is the initiator of "Christmas Jazz" that since 2004 has been held annually in Kulturhuset Banken at
Lillehammer.[3]
