Ioana Andreescu (born 1934, in Stoina) is a Romanian writer, anthropologist, prose writer and ethologist. In 1984, she won the Prize of the Société des Gens de Lettres (SGDL) for her work Discours sentimental. ^{[1] [2]}

In 1958, she studied at the University of Bucharest. She studied sociology at the Sorbonne and obtained a doctorate in social anthropology at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris in Andreesco. ^[3]

From 1958 to 1972, she was editor at the State Editions for Literature in Bucharest. She published Soare sec (Arid Sun) in 1968. Since 1981, Ioana Andreescu has been an editor at Cahiers de literature oral. She participated in volume 9 of The Encyclopedia of Religion , published in 1988, in collaboration with Mircéa Eliade and also in the creation of Rites de passage , which is a film on Arte dating from 1993-1994. ^[4]

She immigrated to France from 1972.^{[ citation needed]}
