All the tunnels with the exception of Ho5 and Ho8 are partially or completely sealed off, this is due to hazardous material (Ho2 contains large amounts of flamthrower proppelant) and danger of rockfall. This however has not stopped determined Islanders from breaking in to the tunnels leading to many of the tunnels being completely emptied. |

Hohlgangsanlage tunnels are a number of underground tunnels constructed by the occupying German forces, in Jersey, during the Occupation of Jersey. These are bunkers which were intended to protect troops, and assets from air raids.
The word hohlgangsanlage can be translated to "cave passage installations". [1]
All of the tunnels, bar Ho5, are incomplete, some never progressed beyond planning. The tunnels which are partly complete are, nonetheless, quite substantial in size. Completed sections were used for various purposes such as storage.
The tunnels were dug in to the sides of hills, in to granite rock. This means that incomplete tunnels remain mostly intact, due to the strength of the unsupported rock. Completed sections are finished with reinforced concrete floor slabs, walls, and ceilings.
Since the end of the Occupation, Hohlgangsanlage 8 has been converted in to a visitor attraction. [2]
