Funa Nakayama (中山 楓奈, Nakayama Fūna; born 17 June 2005) is a Japanese skateboarder from Toyama City. [1] Nakayama won a bronze medal in the women's street competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. [2] In January 2023, she became the first Asian woman to be featured on the cover of Thrasher. [3]
Nakayama competed in the 2018 Japan Skateboarding Championships at Murasaki Park Tokyo on May 13, 2018, in Tokyo, Japan. [4] Nakayama competed in the finals at the Street League Skateboarding Tour - London in 2019. [5] [6] She finished in 6th place. [7] She entered the finals as the number one qualifier. [8] She had similar results three weeks later in Long Beach, California. [9] She entered that contest off of a second place in the street qualifier. [10] As of June 2019, she is ranked #8 in the world. [11]
