His fictional work includes three novels, novellas for children and young people, and a collection of short stories. He has won a number of
literary awards, the most recent being the Barco a Vapor Prize, in 2007, for A Distância das Coisas (The Distance of Things). The film Bodas de Papel (Paper Wedding), which he co-wrote with
Adriana Lisboa and André Sturm, won the Jury's Prize at the Pernambuco Film Festival in 2008.[2]

the Prêmio Jabuti and the 5th Zaffari & Bourbon Prize in 2007.
