Bizarre dates

According to the summary, "the original has been missing since 1860". I'm guessing it must refer to the original daguerrotype; but then how come that a photo has been taken of it in 1904? Korodzik ( talk) 19:13, 13 May 2009 (UTC) reply

Daguerreotypes were often taken of other daguerreotypes (identifiable by diminishing quality and a constant mirroring of the image). I'm not sure about this particular image, but Michael Deas's book The Portraits and Daguerreotypes of Edgar Allan Poe probably knows more. -- Midnightdreary ( talk) 21:02, 13 May 2009 (UTC) reply
