DescriptionZigong Dinosaur Museum Shunosaurus tail club.jpg
English: Tail club of Shunosaurus lii.
Symtemtic position: Cetiosauridae, Sauropodomorpha, Saurischia.
Locality: Dashanpu, Zigong, Sichuan, China.
Age: Middle Jurassic (about 160 million years ago).
This is a well-preserved tail club of Shunosaurus lii fused by several caudal vertabrae at the end of the tail. It is the first discovery of tail clubs of sauropod dinosaurs in the world. It has not only changed the traditional view of sauropods having no positive defense ability, but also provided imporiant evidence for sauropods being land-living animals.
