Japanese handscroll or emakimono of a Japanese folk tale of the fisherman Urashima Taro, having saved a turtle’s life, transported to Horai, a Turtle palace as the guest of Princess Otohime. On his return he finds that many years have passed in his home village. Opening a magic box given to him by Otohime, he ages. Written in Japan, late 16th or early 17th century. Shelfmark: MS.
