U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS – Naval Aircrewman 2nd Class Rafael Alcala, from Las Vegas, and Naval Aircrewman 2nd Class Clayton Kimbrough, from Houston, run their first mile in the Murph Challenge aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt. The Murph Challenge honors fallen Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy and requires a 1 mile run, 300 squats, 200 push-ups, and 100 pull-ups, finishing with another 1 mile run, all while wearing a 20-pound weighted vest. Theodore Roosevelt is deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the region.
