ENS McCoy was selected, by CDR Junge to be the Officer of the Deck for this dangerous evolution which usually entails two professional trained Naval Vessels. She completed this evolution in its entirety, lasting more than six hours. She was also one of junior officers on the ship, but as a formerly enlisted person she had a solid naval back ground and was well respected by both her peer and subordinates.
