English: Camp Patriot, Kuwait (Apr 4, 2003) -- U.S. Navy Seabees assigned to Amphibious Construction Battalions One and Two prepare to place the next roadway section being used in the building of the Elevated Causeway System-Modular (ELCAS (M)) structure at Camp Patriot. ELCAS (M) is an expeditionary pier facility for use where port facilities are damaged or nonexistent, or where surf conditions preclude direct discharge of cargo and equipment ashore. ELCAS (M) provides the capability to off-load containers from lighters beyond the surf zone to shore via wheeled vehicles on the elevated roadway structure. ACB-1 and ACB-2 have been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the multi-national coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, and end the regime of Saddam Hussein.
