English: U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Ty Carter listens to a speaker during a Hall of Heroes induction ceremony Aug. 27, 2013, at the Pentagon in Arlington, Va. President Barack Obama presented Carter with the Medal of Honor a day earlier during a ceremony at the White House. Carter was recognized for his actions during the Battle of Kamdesh at Combat Outpost Keating, Nuristan province, Afghanistan, Oct. 3, 2009. He was a cavalry scout with Bravo Troop, 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at the time of the battle.
