San Gregorio al Celio. This is unquestionably an ancient marble chair, but it is not certain that it came from the house of St Gregory that lies below the church. Its style dates it to the first century AD and it is possible that it was the imperial throne from the Emperor's box in the Colosseum. It rests on a piece of Cosmatesque inlay.
