Upon his departure from the Netherlands in 1559
Philip II of Spain accuses
William of Orange to personally lead the resistance against the king by the nobility. The act takes place on a jetty with the king and his retinue on the left and in the background the sails of his ship. The king grabs the hand of the prince, while pointing his finger towards him. The prince stands to the right holding his hat in his hand, accompanied by his retinue. On the foreground a Spanish soldier is kneeling holding a box. To the left two boys and a dog.
