Fashion model (identified as
Lisa Fonssagrives with English bobby on a railway station platform. Photograph by
Toni Frissell (one of the most celebrated female photographers of the 20th Century), published by Harper's Bazaar in 1951. Part of a collection gifted to the Library of Congress by Frissell. Very poor scan of a very beautiful picture. I tried my best to bring out the contrasts and remove the various artifacts, but I wish they'd clean it up and scan it again.
The United States Library of Congress identifies the location as
Victoria Station, London, but the station is actually
Paddington.
This work is from the
Toni Frissell collection at the Library of Congress. According to the library, there are
no known copyright restrictions on the use of this work. Toni Frissell has released into the public domain all images for which the library holds the original negative:
“
Images for which the Library holds original negative: Per the instrument of gift, Miss Frissell dedicated to the public the rights she held to original negatives in her collection, and she orally informed the Library that she held the rights to those images. This assertion is supported by Vogue Magazine, for which Miss Frissell was a staff photographer from 1933 to the late 1940s. They have informed the Library in writing that they claim no rights to images for which the Library holds the negatives. However, privacy and publicity rights may apply.
