DescriptionCoat of arms of Seychelles (1976–1996).svg
English: Coat of Arms of the Republic of Seychelles. Adopted on 27 May 1976 used until 1996; the coat of arms of the Republic of Seychelles shows a shield, with a majestic cocodemer tree, laden with 8 nuts (the largest in the world). At the bottom of the shield stands a giant tortoise, with argent shell, on green ground. In the background is found a blue sea, two green islands, and a red ship, sailing Dexter. The shield is enthroned by a argent helmet, of gules, azure and argent mantling. The crest is a white tropicbird, flying above a gules, azure and argent torse. The shield supporters are two mighty swordfish. Beneath the shield the motto of Seychelles is blazoned: "Finis Coronat Opus" (Latin for "The End Crowns the Work").
