Description

The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) held a briefing on super storms on March 24, 2015. Dr. Howard Bluestein, the George Lynn Cross Research Professor at the School of Meteorology at the University of Oklahoma (and world-renown storm chaser) talked about the damage done by tornadoes, the types of storms that produce tornadoes, and the need for improved computer models and observing systems, as well as long-term investments to better understand the basic physics of tornadoes in order to improve forecasts and predictions.
