English: Image of George Bomford, (1780-1848), graduated West Point July 1, 1805, served in the U.S. army Corps of Engineers, eventually promoted Colonel and Chief of Ordnance of the U.S. Army, 1832-1845. He was also a designer and inventor, producing many innovations in the creation of fortifications and the design of coastal artillery. (Cullum’s Register).
