Description2015 New York Academy of Medicine 2 East 103rd Street.jpg
English: The New York Academy of Medicine was founded in 1847 a voice for the medical profession in medical practice and public health reform. It established the Metropolitan Board of Health, the first modern municipal public health authority in the United States. In 1926, the Academy moved to its current location, a new building designed in an eclectic style by York & Sawyer at 2 East 103rd Street at the corner of Fifth Avenue, across from Central Park in the East Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The Academy Library is one of the three largest medical collections in the United States and is open to general public. (Source: AIA Guide to NYC (5th ed.))
