The new styling was introduced in 1941, now a bigger car inside, it shared its body now with Ford. It got new rectangular parkers in 1942 (Bullets in 1941) and a new grille in 1946 (the building of cars put on hold over the war years) In 1947, the border around the grille was chrome plated (painted in 1946) and the Mercury name was placed on the side of the hood. 1948 Mercury Eights were identical to 1947.
