Netto's theorem , on the dimension-preserving properties of continuous
bijections , is named for Netto. Netto published this theorem in 1878, in response to
Georg Cantor 's proof of the existence of discontinuous bijections between the
unit interval and
unit square . His proof was not fully rigorous, but its errors were later repaired.
