Menghe ( Chinese: 孟河镇) is a township-level administrative unit under the jurisdiction of Xinbei District, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, the People's Republic of China. [2] It is located in the province of Jiangsu, in the eastern part of the country, about 99 kilometres (62 mi) east of the provincial capital, Nanjing. The number of inhabitants is 91,049. [1] The population consists of 44,692 women and 46,357 men. Children under 15 make up 12%, adults 15-64 make up 77%, and seniors over 65 make up 10%. [1]
Around Menghe, it is densely populated, with 2,261 inhabitants per square kilometer. [3] The nearest larger community is Chunjiang , 15.0 kilometres (9.3 mi) southeast of Menghe. The area around Menghe consists mostly of agricultural land. [4]
Menghe has a humid subtropical climate ( Köppen Cfa) with hot and wet summers and cold and humid winters. Average annual rainfall is 1,525 millimetres (60.0 in). The rainiest month is July, with an average of 289 millimetres (11.4 in) of precipitation, and the driest is January, with 43 millimetres (1.7 in) of precipitation. [5]
