Kim Yu Kyong ( Korean: 김유경; born 1991) is a North Korean singer. She is the lead singer of the Moranbong Band and also performs with other bands. [1]
Kim Yu Kyong was born in 1991 and attended Pyongyang University of Music and Dance. In 2010, close to her graduation, she was shown on Korean Central Television performing the song "Moranbong Nilliria". [2] [3]
Kim Yu Kyong started her career with the debut of the Moranbong Band in 2012 as the lead vocalist. Some of her early solos include “O, Party, My Mother” and “Golden Cushion". She continues to perform with the Moranbong Band in the present day. [4] She has also been seen performing with various other bands such as the Samjion Orchestra [5] and the band of the State Affairs Commission. [6] On the 25th of October, 2015, Kim Yu Kyong was awarded with her nomination as a Merited Artist. [7] Along with performing with the Moranbong band and other bands, She is often seen performing many solo pieces in concerts such as the 70th Anniversary Victory-Day Concert, [8] 75th DPRK Founding Anniversary Concert, [9] 2023 New Year's Concert, [10] and 2024 New Years Concert.
