Kalin Stefanov, full name Kalin-Feliks Stefanov (born 29 January 2004, Sofia),[ citation needed] is a professional backgammon player. He is the runner-up of the WBIF world youth championship 2023, [1] losing to Japanese Yuta Takimiya in the final. [2] His own review of the tournament can be seen on Youtube. [3]
Stefanov was born and grew up in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. In January 2023, aged 18, he moved residence to Stuttgart in the german province of Baden-Württemberg. Apart from backgammon, he is an amateur pool player and a member of BC Stuttgart 1891, [4] the first pool-billiards club in Germany. [5] Among both the backgammon and pool societies, he is commonly known by the nickname "the Kalinator". This is also the name of his Youtube channel. [6] He is the inventor of Chessgammon, a version of backgammon with limited luck factor. [7] His successes in backgammon include the winner's title in 2024 Geneva Open. [8]
