John Aguek though his close friends call him Johnny or Froggy is an afro-dancehall singer known professionally as John. He is a South Sudanese musician who gained popularity in 2018 with his song "Guondo sakit" a Juba Arabic phrase meaning a common person or villager. Born and raised in South Sudan's capital city, Juba, Frog spent most of his life there. Even in school, he was known for his musical talent and would entertain his classmates and friends with his singing.
After completing his secondary education, John Frog pursued music full-time. Since then, he has released several successful songs that have gained popularity across South Sudan. These include:
John Frog has done a couple of collaborations with both South Sudanese and foreign singers including T Manager, also known as Rubuna boy, Tanzania's Harmonize, JAY WLLZ From Nigeria Uganda's Eddy Konzo, and Jose Chameleon.
John Frog has had his share of controversies with other South Sudanese celebrities, including his former music manager K2, who he accused of using him for personal gain without furthering his music career. However, the two resolved their differences with the help of K2's sister and businesswoman, Madam Achai Wiir.
John Frog's talent has earned him recognition and nominations for various awards. He was nominated in September 2022 for the Best Male Artist - East Africa category in the African Muzik Magazine Awards and Music Festival (AFRIMMA), where he competed against Kenya's Khaligraph Jones, Uganda's Eddy Konzo, Tanzania's Diamond Platinumz, and Rayvanny.
In addition to his music career, John Frog has received praise for his philanthropic efforts. He promised Mr. Dut Ngong, a man who was in prison, a gift upon his release, and later fulfilled his promise by giving him a cow [2]. Mr. Ngong expressed his appreciation for the gift after his release.
John Frog's music career is thriving, and he has become a household name in South Sudan and beyond. His unique sound and style have captured the hearts of many fans, and he continues to gain new followers with his music.
