Jane Burnett Smith was a saddle bronc rider and rodeo performer in the United States.

Early life

Jane Burnett Smith grew up on a ranch in Montana and rode her first steer at the age of twelve. She was a well-known women’s saddle bronc rider in the 1900’s and later joined the army and became an author.

Career

Her career took her from small town rodeos all the way to Madison Square Gardens. Burnett Smith was of a small group of women who busted broncs and broke barriers for women in the male-dominated sport in the mid-1900’s. [1]
