Chaman Chakko [1] [2] [3] is an Indian film editor predominantly working in Malayalam cinema. He is an alumnus of St. Thomas College, Thrissur. He worked as a spot editor in several movies and became an independent editor with his debut movie, Kala at the age of 24. [4]
Chaman did his schooling in Seventh-Day Adventist School, Thrissur. He received his degree in Visual Communication from St. Thomas College, Thrissur. Chaman is the nephew of renowned Malayalam music director, Johnson (composer) Master. Chaman's father, T.A. Chakko is also a violinist.
Chaman started his career as an editor for short films. Later, he worked as an assistant editor with editor Shameer Muhammed. He has worked as a spot editor for Helen (2019 film) (2019), Forensic (2020 film)(2019), and Meppadiyan (2022). He has also worked as an assistant to several films like Iblis , Kodathi Samakshan Balan vakeel, Nine, The Gambler, and as an associate editor in films including Forensic. He came as a spot editor to the movie Kala, but turned out to be the main editor of the film, gaining him critical acclaim in the industry. He has also edited ads of several brands as well as trailers of several movies including Pada and Teacher. He became an independent editor, at the age of 24, with his debut movie Kala directed by Rohit V.S. Chaman has edited two of the major blockbusters this year, 2018 (film) and RDX: Robert Dony Xavier [5]
