Chad Peck is a Canadian musician, English Teacher, and the Founder of Noyes Records. [1] Peck is best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the alternative rock band, Kestrels. The band has achieved notable prominence in the Canadian music scene earning multiple nominations for awards like the East Coast Music Association Award [2] [3] and Music Nova Scotia Alternative Recording of the year. [4]
Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, Peck spent his formative years nurturing a deep interest for music that saw him commence his career as a guitarist and vocalist for Kestrels [5]. Peck started his record label, Noyes Records in 2005 and has released many various bands before, with a listening base located within and outside of Canada [6]
Debuting in 2008, Kestrels, with Peck at the helm, have been known for their powerful fusion of epic guitar tones, potent drumming, and captivating hooks, that are usually shrouded in an enveloping whir. The band has released their music with the well known label, Sonic Unyon before [7] [8]. In 2016, the band had a major setback, with their gear being stolen, however they were still able to release their album [9]. The band's fourth album, 'Dream or Don’t Dream,' saw an esteemed collaboration with J Mascis , the founder of American rock band Dinosaur Jr [10]. The album was mixed by John Agnello, known for working with artists such as Sonic Youth, Alvvays, and Kurt Vile, and subsequently mastered by legend Greg Calbi [11] [12], whose portfolio includes the likes of David Bowie and Lou Reed.
'Dream or Don't Dream' became one of Kestrels biggest hits. It was released on Darla Records [13], an independent Californian record label celebrated for its eclectic catalogue and innovative approach towards the music industry.
In addition to his successful music career, Peck maintains a strong passion for teaching. [5]. He is employed as a high school English teacher [12]
