aurumOS is an open-source Linux distribution developed by Andrii Murha and cfizer77, founders of Aurum Foundation LTD. (previously known as ALCHEON LLC.). The operating system is based on Arch Linux and uses a custom package manager and the Arch build system for package management. The user interface is graphical, and the distribution is designed for general-purpose use.

Development History

The development of aurumOS started in early 2024, with the initial planning and development phase taking place in the months prior. The operating system uses Arch Linux as its base and has its own installer called " Aurum Installer", written in Python and Flet. The user interface is written in Dart and Flutter, and the desktop shell is named " Bodshell". The development of Bodshell is still ongoing, but it is expected to be released with the final version of aurumOS.

Technical Details

aurumOS is a Rolling release distribution, which means that it receives continuous updates and improvements. The package manager used in aurumOS is pacman, which is also used in Arch Linux, along with libalpm as its back-end. The Arch build system is used for building and packaging software. The operating system supports only x86-64 architecture, and it uses a Monolithic kernel based on the Linux kernel. The userland is based on GNU, and the license for the userspace software is Apache License 2.0, while the Linux kernel modifications are licensed under GNU GPL v2.
