Ahmad Rafay Alam is a Pakistani environmental lawyer and activist known for his contributions to environmental law and sustainable urban development in Pakistan. He is a Yale World Fellow and a founding partner at Saleem, Alam & Co., a law firm specializing in energy, water, natural resources, and urban infrastructure sectors.
Ahmad Rafay Alam received his early education at Aitchison College, where he was actively involved in student leadership as a Full College Blazer and Head Prefect. He completed his A-levels at The International School of Choueifat in 1994. He then attended William & Mary, focusing on Mathematics, Economics, and Political Science, but left the program after three semesters. Alam graduated with an LL.B. (Hons) in Law from SOAS University of London in 1999. He further enhanced his professional skills by becoming a member of Lead - Inspiring leaders for a sustainable world in 2007-2008 and a Yale World Fellow at Yale University in 2014.
Ahmad Rafay Alam co-founded Saleem, Alam & Co., focusing on energy, water, natural resources, and urban infrastructure sectors. He has served in various public and private roles, including as Chairman of the Lahore Electric Supply Company and Lahore Waste Management Company, and Vice-President of the Urban Unit. He is also a member of the Pakistan Climate Change Council and the Punjab Environment Protection Council, advising on policy and strategy in his areas of expertise.
