Catherine Friend is an American writer of adult nonfiction, fiction, and children's books. Her works have won her four Goldie Awards from the Golden Crown Literary Society, [1] [2] [3] the Minnesota Book Award for General Nonfiction, [4] and Keystone to Reading Book Award for Primary. [5] She was also a finalist for three Lambda Literary Awards [6] [7] [8] and a Judy Grahn Award. [9]
For 25 years, Friend and her wife, Melissa, lived on Rising Moon Farm, a small farm in southeastern Minnesota, where they raised sheep and used their wool for yarn. [10] The farm was 53 acres and housed sheep, llamas, goats, steers, ducks, chickens, and peacocks. [11]
Friend received Bachelor of Arts in economics and Spanish, as well as a Master of Science in economics. [10]
