Don't categorize people as Republicans before the Republican Party existed
The U.S. Republican Party was founded in 1854, so people who served in the legislature before that date should not be treated as Republicans in the legislature. I removed
Nehemiah Abbott from this category for that reason. He was a Republican later on, but not in 1842-43 when he was in the legislature. There may be other legislators who are similarly misclassified.
