Should a naming convention be established for churches?
What should the naming convention be?
In the case of
Postmaster General they just use their names because they are fairly unique (only 3 exceptions out of 75).
"Main Street" is a more common term. In this case a
disambiguation page was created, but I don't think we should create a disambiguation page for almost every church (e.g.
St._Andrew's_Church).
Recommendation: Since a lot of churches in different cities have the same name it is recommended that the city be mentioned in the church name. (e.g
St. Augustine Church, Philadelphia)
if a church has such a unique name it is unlikely to be mistaken for a church in another city (
Tenth Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia. 19 of the first 20 Google results were for the Tenth Presbyterian Church located in Philadelphia. The one exception was clearly titled Zionsville Presbyterian Church and was probably an error.)
