For a while now this very large region has needed subcats; on
Category:West Coast of Vancouver Island the subcats are "Nootka Sound region", "Juan de Fuca region", "Clayoquot Sound region", as someone had noted that without "region" there are complications as to hte meaning of the category; and while
Category:Puget Sound is currently titled as it is, given the just-mentioned rationale perhaps it should be
Category:Puget Sound region. In any case, the primary breakdown of this region is as follows, but I'm uncertain as to whether or not to use lower-case "r" "region" in all cases, e.g. in Queen Charlotte Strait's case it's pretty cut and dry because like the Strait of Georgia the name includes adjoining waters/areas; with Johnstone Strait not so much so "Johstone Strait region" seems necessary, likewise in Bella Coola's case, perhaps Bella Bella's also; let's see how it looks:
Category:Johnstone Strait region (which is a common term for all waters between Campbell River and Sayward/Port McNeill or so, not just Johnstone Strait proper; the Discovery Islands are only a subregion of this and that term is not in wide usage, though historical (despite sounding tourist-board-ish). The Discovery Islands, and Discovery Passage, are pretty much South Coast, not Central Coast, anyway; Central Coast would begin at the eastern end of Johnstone Strait and between Bute and Toba Inlets.
Category:Bute Inlet-Homathko region - the upper basin of the HOmathko is part of the Chilcotin, the lower reaches are a "linear unit" with Bute Inlet; this is pretty much the boundary line between South/Central coasts.
Category:Cape Scott region (kind of a subset of the QCS subcat, but pretty much "outside" the QCI region
Category:Bella Coola region - "Bella Coola Valley" could be a subcat of it and is in common use, but would not include King Island and Kwatna etc; maybe a
Category:Dean Channel-Kimsquit region would be needed to, though there are few articles from that area as of yet.
Category:Bella Bella region - this might be better named for the dominant body of water in this area, I'll look into it.
Not sure about the Rivers Inlet/Smith Sound area; I think Fitz Hugh Sound is the more common water-region name around there, I'll look into it.
I"m most concerned, for now, about whether to create
Category:Queen Charlotte Strait vs.
Category:Queen Charlotte Strait region (which, just noting, would allow the inclusion of things not actually in the Strait, e.g. on the North Island or places like Kingcome, which are away from the waterbody on a side-water). Note that there would be some overlap with
Category:Northern Vancuver Island (though that also includes some of the WEst Coast, e.g. Quatsino). The QCS articles are by far the largest group of those currently in the category.
