I'm all for it, by my Wikipedic nature wonders how many castles we can squeeze in here? "Castles and monuments in East Lothian" would be better and encourage more articles. Deizio 23:27, 7 April 2006 (UTC) reply

Well, there are only ten listed thus far at Castles in Scotland, but considering the claim that there are over 3000 castles in Scotland, then East Lothian is very likely to have more than 10. Generally-speaking, we really ought to try to avoid "and" categories, unless they exist at the top level, which they do not in this case, see Category:Castles and Category:Monuments.
Don't worry too much about small categories - they often have very high value within their own cat hierarchy. As an example, this cat recently (easily) survived a Cfd nomination:
Population: 1
Likely future population: 1
Is that OK by Wikipedia: absolutely!
