Arthur William Tillotson (15 September 1926 – 11 April 2016) [1] was a British football player [2] from Skipton [3] who played for the Silsden FC team during the 1940s and 50s, in attack, [4] centre-forward, centre-half, defense, [5] and left-back positions.
In the 1930s, he also played in Leeds United FC first ever game when he was 17 years old [6] on 28 August 1920 at Port Vale FC [7] in the position of left-back. [8] [9] His nine goals in one game for Silsden remains unchallenged. [10] In 1951 [11] he scored the winning goal for his team against Bradford City AFC. [12] Even when he retired from the team, [13] Tillotson continued to support the club [14] for the rest of his life and was elected life president. [15] After he died, the Arthur Tillotson Memorial Cup [16] was created in his honor. [17] He also played for Castleford Town FC. [18]
