Anaswara Rajan (born 8 September 2002) is an Indian actress who works mainly in
Malayalam films. Her first feature film was Udaharanam Sujatha in 2017.[1]
Early life
Anaswara was born on 8 September 2002[2] to Rajan and Usha, natives of
Karivellur, near
Payyanur in
Kannur district.[3] She was educated at St. Mary's Girls High School in
Payyanur.[4][5]
Acting career
Anaswara made her film acting debut with Udaharanam Sujatha (2017), as Athira, the rebellious daughter of Sujatha, played by
Manju Warrier. Anaswara played her first leading role in the film Thanneer Mathan Dinangal (2019).[1] The film, set against the backdrop of a high school that had a heartwarming tale of love, misunderstanding and the struggles of growing up. The film turned out to be a sleeper hit, with Anaswara subsequently gaining fame in the industry.[6] She played a dual role in Adhyarathri (2019) as a daughter and mother. She played the title role in Super Sharanya (2022), which had a strong showing at the box office.[7]
Anaswara made her entry into Tamil cinema with the
Trisha starrer Raangi (2022).[8] In 2023, she appeared in the Tamil film
Thugs, alongside Hridhu Haroon. It was an official remake of the Malayalam film
Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil, starring
Antony Varghese. She made her Hindi debut with Yaariyan 2 (2023). In the same year she appeared in Neru, starring
Mohanlal directed by
Jeethu Joseph as a blind sculptor. Her performance in the film was well acclaimed and regarded as her career best.[9]
